Camp High Rocks is a traditional boys’ summer camp in the North Carolina mountains. They create a purposeful atmosphere based on four key pillars: community, adventure, leadership, and independence that is geared to a camper’s needs and interests.

I had a great time sharing strategies for cultivating a diverse, equitable and inclusive camp environment as part of Camp High Rocks staff retreat. Through an interactive activity, participants began to understand how their own implicit bias works. From there they were able to make meaning and draw distinction between diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Aisha Adams

“Camp High Rocks is an all boys adventure summer camp. We reached out to Aisha to discuss topics around justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Aisha’s message went above and beyond the desired outcome. Our staff were welcomed and encouraged to embark in conversations that promoted growth as people and a community. Her general demeanor and approachable nature provided a unique and powerful space for our community. Aisha was able to guide our counselors in important dialogue while highlighting the importance of being an inclusive and open community. Aisha was a great facilitator and provided a high quality community moment.”
